Former Tennessee quarterback named the newest coach with Seattle Seahawks

He spent the past two seasons with Iowa as the Hawkeyes have been looking to reinvent themselves offensively, combining their pro-style offense with more explosive pieces to their offensive puzzle.

Before his time in Iowa City, he spent two years at Wisconsin as a graduate assistant coach. In his time with the Badgers, he worked with the defensive backs in 2021 and with the quarterbacks in 2022, working with future Florida quarterback Graham Mertz.

Chryst has ties to the coaching world as the son of NFL coach Geep Chryst, who spent 15 years coaching out West with the Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers, San Fransisco 49ers, and Denver Broncos, and nephew of former Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst.

With those coaching ties, he will attract interest at the college and professional levels. He also earned PAC-12 All-Academic honors at Stanford and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, and Society.

Chryst signed with Stanford out of high school and spent four years there earning his degree before becoming a graduate transfer and joining Tennessee for his final season.

In his one year at Rocky Top, he appeared in eight games, throwing 23-for-51 for 450 yards and three touchdowns. He served as a backup to Jarrett Guarantano and joined the staff with a lot of excitement, but he didn't break out as fans had hoped in his lone season with Tennessee.

After spending time on college coaching staffs with Iowa and Wisconsin, he will now have his shot in the professional ranks with the Seahawks.
