The Indiana Pacers are down 3-2 in the NBA Finals after a Game 5 loss, and any path to a comeback may have just gotten a whole lot harder.

It was announced via Shams Charania on X that Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton had suffered a right calf strain in the loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder and was going to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

Haliburton suffered the injury in the 1st quarter of the 120-109 loss in Oklahoma City and would leave the game. He would return, but ultimately was ineffective, finishing the night with only 4 points and having gone 0-6 from the field. At this moment, it’s uncertain if he will play on Thursday, when the series returns to Indianapolis for Game 6.

Haliburton’s injury is far from the only reason the Pacers find themselves in a 3-2 hole, but there’s no doubt that without him on the floor and at 100%, the Pacers chances at mounting a comeback and claiming their first-ever NBA Championship just took a major hit.

Game 6 of the NBA Finals tips off Thursday at 8:30pm ET from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tune into 93.5/107.5 The Fan at 8:00pm for Pacers Pregame with Pat Boylan and Mark Boyle!
