Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of attacking reinforcements this summer by holding exploratory talks over a sensational move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
According to sources close to the situation, Arsenal’s recruitment team has initiated early discussions to understand the feasibility of signing Rodrygo, with Real Madrid valuing the 24-year-old at around €90 million. While no formal offer has been made yet, Arsenal’s interest is understood to be genuine and growing — especially given the club’s ambition to add a world-class winger capable of providing both goals and creativity.
Rodrygo has been a consistent performer for Real Madrid since arriving from Santos in 2019. Known for his flair, quick feet, and eye for goal, he has often been used both on the right and left flanks, as well as occasionally through the middle. His versatility is part of what makes him such an attractive option for Arsenal, who are looking for someone who can either compete with or complement Bukayo Saka and provide another dynamic threat in wide areas.
However, Real Madrid are in no rush to sell. Despite the arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the rapid rise of Endrick, Rodrygo remains a valued member of the squad, particularly due to his Champions League pedigree and maturity beyond his years. Any potential departure would likely depend on the player’s own desire for a guaranteed starting role, something that could become more complicated with increased competition at the Bernabéu.
Arsenal, for their part, are carefully weighing the financial commitment such a deal would require. A €90 million transfer fee, plus wages befitting a player of Rodrygo’s stature, would make him one of the club’s most expensive signings in history. However, the Gunners are willing to back Arteta in the market, especially after falling just short in their pursuit of silverware this past season.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the evaluation process, working closely with Arteta to identify elite-level talent capable of pushing Arsenal to the next level both domestically and in Europe. Rodrygo fits the profile — young, experienced at the highest level, and technically gifted — but the deal’s viability will depend on Madrid’s stance and whether the player can be convinced to swap Spain for North London.
While still early days in the process, the fact that Arsenal have begun engaging behind the scenes signals real intent. It’s a statement of ambition from a club determined to close the gap at the very top and one that could set the tone for a blockbuster summer window at the Emirates.
If Rodrygo becomes available, Arsenal will be ready.
