Newcastle United’s brand new 2025/26 away kit ‘leaked’ online as fans slam 'horrible' shirt

Newcastle’s new away kit for the 2025/26 season appears to have been leaked online.

Newcastle United’s new away shirt for the forthcoming 2025/26 season appears to have leaked online after a fan spotted the jersey on sale in a shop in Indonesia.

A picture of Adidas’ new kit has appeared on social media, with Footy Headlines offering further details including the inspiration behind the new design, which returns to the controversial ‘Saudi green’ look last seen in the 2023/24 season.

Newcastle United’s leaked new away kit for 2025/26 revealed

The image above, which cannot immediately be verified, appears to confirm prior leaks which suggested a return to the green away kit which was first worn two years ago, in the colour officially known as ‘team green’.

The new kit will mark the third time in the four seasons since the club was taken over by a consortium led by the Saudi Public Investment Fund that a change kit has closely mimicked the designs of shirts worn by the Saudi Arabian national team, a fashion choice which has proven somewhat controversial among both fans and neutrals.

This year’s design features extensive white trim both down the flanks of the jersey and across the shoulders, which feature Adidas’ trademark three stripes, with additional detailing on the collar. The sponsor and manufacturer’s logos and club badge are also picked out in plain white.

Furthermore, the shirt features a pattern of curved stripes running horizontally across the chest, which according to Footy Headlines are intended to mimic the arch of Newcastle’s iconic Tyne Bridge – which is in the process of being given a fresh coat of green paint itself.

‘Horrible’ new Newcastle kit earmarked for July release

The new away shirt is expected to be officially revealed and released some time in July, following the launch of the blue-tinged home shirt, which went on sale at the end of May.

Previous leaks which accurately predicted the design of the home kit also suggested that the away kit would be green, although the detailing was not revealed at the time, making it harder to be certain that the ‘leak’ is genuine.

Those same early leaks suggested that the third kit, images of which have not yet emerged, would pay unexpected homage to the relatively unpopular 1997/98 away shirt, with its prominent green and orange stripe.

The initial fan reaction to the leak on social media, unfortunately, has been less than complimentary about Adidas’ latest effort. Comments on Newcastle fan account The Magpie Channel variously describe the new shirt as “horrible”, “awful” and “honking”, with several supporters expressing a desire to move away from green kits going forward.

Other comments include “the worst kit I’ve ever seen us have in 35 years” and several which are rathe less printable, with a distinct lack of compliments offered to Adidas over their new design.

The kit may not sell all that well based on the immediate response, but few fans will be too worried about the jersey the players are wearing if the club can successfully battle their way to a third Champions League qualification in four years in the forthcoming season.
