Erik ten Hag is settling into life in Germany after being appointed as Xabi Alonso’s successor at Bayer Leverkusen.
Alonso’s departed the club having moved to Spain taking on the mantle at Real Madrid, leaving the Bundesliga side looking for a new head coach.
Now, ten Hag has been officially appointed ahead of the pre-season in his first role since being sacked by Manchester United in October 2024.
The Dutch manager was let go after the club had their worst Premier League campaign in 2023/24 and started off lst season’s run even worse under his leadership.
As such, The Red Devils felt it was time to part ways, with Ruben Amorim coming in as their new manager.
However, all of ten Hag’s staff were also let go as Amorim arrived with his existing team from Sporting CP to support his club rebuild.

Interestingly the Dutch manager isn’t going for any member of his previous staff.
German publication Kicker has reported that Andries Ulderink has been appointed as one of ten Hag’s assistants.
Ulderink joins ten Hag’s side having most recently held the role of Royal Antwerp’s manager since the start of March 2025.
The 55-year-old had been the assistant manager of the Belgian side between 2022 and 2024 under Mark van Bommel, before joining Philippe Clement’s coaching team at Rangers between July 2024 and December 2024.
In coaching career, Ulderink has also held assistant manager roles with Twente FC and Reading, also managing Ajax Cape Town, AGOVV and Go Ahead Eagles, bringing a wealth of experience to the Bundesliga side.
