Rafael Devers was officially introduced as a member of the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.
Devers, who was acquired in a shocking trade just two days prior, got the star treatment in front of his new teammates, media and some select franchise legends at Oracle Park. The Giants made a show out of it, as anyone would have expected, though there was some decent stuff to be gathered for fans of the Boston Red Sox.
Devers, for one, immediately thanked the franchise who signed him back in 2013.
“I just want to thank the Boston Red Sox organization for signing me at 16 and giving me an opportunity to become a big leaguer,” Devers said in his first words during the press conference. “I’m happy to be here with the San Francisco Giants, and obviously happy to represent Latin America.”
The Red Sox certainly didn’t enjoy seeing how that tenure ended, as it signaled the conclusion of a month-long saga between the two sides over which position he would ultimately settle at. The Giants plan on playing him at first base after getting him familiar with the position, which the 28-year-old is perfectly fine with.

“I’m here to play wherever they want me to play,” Devers said.
Of course he is…
