The Washington Commanders made a big trade with the San Francisco 49ers to acquire superstar wideout Deebo Samuel, which gives them one of the best receiver corps in the NFL.
But not everyone thinks they should keep their group together.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, he puts together six different trade proposals for star receiver Terry McLaurin that the Commanders "couldn't refuse". One idea proposes that Washington would send McLaurin to the New England Patriots in exchange for tight end Austin Hooper and a 2026 second-round pick.
"The New England Patriots did an incredible job of improving the supporting cast of second-year quarterback Drake Maye this offseason... McLaurin, meanwhile, showed last season that he can be a tremendous asset for a young, developing quarterback," Knox wrote."
Knox also adds in Hooper to "sweeten the deal", saying that him being four years younger than Commanders starter Zach Ertz makes him better. But he left out the fact that Ertz had almost 200 more receiving yards and double the touchdowns that Hooper did.
As for McLaurin, he had debatably the best season of his career in his first season with young quarterback Jayden Daniels. He finished with double-digit touchdowns for the first time with 13, as well as just under 1,100 yards.
Washington is in a great position to contend right away, and trading away one of, if not their best weapon, is not the move that they need to be making right now.
