Report: Jets sign former Mizzou kicker following Ufl stint

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KCTV) - A former standout kicker for the Missouri Tigers signed a contract with the New York Jets on Tuesday.

Harrison Mevis, who most recently spent time with the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League, signed with the Jets, according to a report from Draft Diamonds.

Last season, the Jets employed five different kickers, none of whom played more than 8 games for the team.

Mevis was a Second Team All-SEC selection in 2023, his final season with Mizzou. He kicked a 61-yard game-winning field goal as time expired in a Tigers victory over K-State.

The Warsaw, Indiana, native, dubbed the “Thiccer Kicker,” was a First Team All-America selection in 2021 at Mizzou. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers but was released in August 2024.

Now, he’ll get a chance with the Jets ahead of the 2025 season.
