All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they continue their bid to add to their squad this summer.
Arsenal are still on break ahead of the start of pre-season, but club chiefs remain hard at work as they look to hand Mikel Arteta his desired signings this summer. The Gunners have a lot of work to do on their squad, and they are hoping to enter next season significantly stronger after falling so short of the title last term.
Arteta is going to want a striker and a winger, while he is also expected to get a midfielder and goalkeeper as a minimum, with other positions also in need of further depth. As Andrea Berta sets about procuring all that, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Sesko boost
Arsenal may have been handed a positive indication that RB Leipzig are finally willing to do business when it comes to Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners have been in talks over Sesko for weeks but have come up short of the German club’s valuation up to this point.
But according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Leipzig are now plotting a move for Sesko’s replacement, which could be good news for the Gunners and their hopes of landing a striker. Tavolieri’s post on X read: “RB Leipzig’s now pushing on Rômulo! Rasenballsport management considers Göztepe striker as 1st target if Benjamin Sesko leaves the club. Talks are already underway with player side and the Brazilian striker’s already keen on the move! Wait&See… “
Guehi ‘interest’
Arsenal are said to be interested in a deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace amid reported interest from Chelsea and Tottenham, with the latter having an offer rejected back in January.
“He’s now into the final year of his contract, so if Crystal Palace aren’t able to persuade him to sign a new deal, this is one of their last chances to cash in," said journalist Peter O'Rourke to Football Insider. “Right now, I wouldn’t say there are any clear favourites for him. I think it’s an open race. We know Newcastle are long-term admirers, so I’m sure they’ll be monitoring the situation.
“Arsenal have also shown a bit of interest as well. A lot of it will come down to the player and what he wants to do. If he was to go to Arsenal, there’s no guarantee that he would be a regular starter, and that might not be what Guehi wants especially heading into a World Cup year. That’s something that’s going to play a part."
Deeney on Arsenal striker search
Troy Deeney believes Arsenal have dragged their feet over the signing of a new striker so far this summer. “It just seems that Arsenal are dragging their feet a little bit in terms of getting the striker,” Deeney said on talkSPORT. “It’s been a talking point since they basically bottled it in January with going to get that last little bit, get it over the line.
“They obviously went up from with Mikel Merino, they had Kai Havertz, it just felt like this was a season that Arsenal needed to get a striker in and it feels like they’re still dragging their feet. There’s not an abundance of strikers out there. They’re linked with the likes of Sesko, Gyokeres, [Victor] Osimhen, [Ollie] Watkins… they haven’t got any of them through the door.”
