Liverpool are “slightly concerned” about Real Madrid’s interest in defender Ibrahima Konate, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have already been stung by Real with Trent Alexander-Arnold joining in recent weeks after running down his contract at Anfield.

Konate is in a similar position as he has just 12 months left to run on his deal and can sign a pre-contract agreement in January 2026.

Sources say Liverpool have held talks but nothing has been agreed with the France international.

Liverpool keen to get Konate fee if he decides to move on

Football Insider revealed on Monday (16 June) that the Reds are desperate for a resolution as soon as possible and will not wait until January for a decision.

Liverpool know Konate will cost big money to replace and will be keen to raise funds to do so by getting a transfer fee for the former RB Leipzig star – if he does decide to move on.

Real Madrid are interested in the centre-back as part of their strategy to target stars across Europe in the final years of their contracts.

Konate made 42 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign as Liverpool won the Premier League title at a canter.

He joined the club in 2021 and has racked up 132 appearances for the Reds, winning a league title and three domestic cups.

Liverpool weigh up Robertson exit

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (17 June) that Liverpool are weighing up a permanent immediate exit for long-serving full-back Andy Robertson.

The Scotland international – who has 12 months left on his deal – has attracted interest from Spanish club Atletico Madrid, fuelling rumours of an Anfield departure.

If Diego Simeone’s side make a tempting offer, then Liverpool could be inclined to cash in on the 31-year-old rather than hand him a costly new contract.
