Ashley Young is still a massive fan favourite at Aston Villa and is now a free agent.
The former England international departed B6 for a second time in 2023 to complete a free transfer switch to Everton.
Despite performing as a utility man at Goodison Park, the 39-year-old now finds himself without a club after being released by David Moyes’ side.
Young will always have a home at Villa Park, showcased as the Villans shared a post on social media as the transfer window gets underway.

Ashley Young transfer update revealed
With so much experience under his belt and no clear intention to retire anytime soon, the full-back represents an excellent option for many different clubs this summer.
As it stands, Young is a free agent and is awaiting new offers from elsewhere before deciding on his future.

While remaining without a place to play his football, Aston Villa took to X (17 June) to remember the day that the Englishman returned to the Midlands.
This marked four years since signing on a free transfer, before ultimately being let go by Unai Emery after Conference League qualification was earned.

Now Young finds himself in the same position, and it is fair to say that many Villa fans would welcome the experienced pro back, without a second thought.
Despite this, it doesn’t appear to be any closer to finding a new home, despite the transfer window being open.
This comes after sources close to the player revealed to Villa News that there is no developments in the search for a new club this summer.
It is clear, therefore, that a Villa Park return isn’t yet in progress as nothing is imminent regarding a new club for the defender.
Young return to Aston Villa update to disappoint fans
When Villa shared the post to X, many supporters thought that this marked the third homecoming of the former winger to Bodymoor Heath.
This wasn’t the case, instead, it represented nothing more than a nostalgic post, with little else to speak of at this stage of the window.
As a result, Young looks destined to complete a move away from Aston Villa, despite there being seemingly little interest in his signature right now.
Emery has youthful full-back options like Ian Maatsen and Andres Garcia available, so the experience of the ex-Villa man could prove to be invaluable if a move does become possible.
