Will United be at home for the opening day again?

There are three guarantees in life: death, taxes and United at home on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign.

United have been at home on the opening day of the season for each of the last eight campaigns, beating Fulham 1-0 on the opening weekend last season.

The Reds were last away from home for their opening game of a Premier League campaign in 2016, winning 3-1 at Bournemouth.

The opening weekend of the 2025/26 season

The 2025/26 Premier League season will kick-off over the weekend of Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17.

However, in previous years, the opening game has taken place on the Friday evening of the opening weekend. Last season, United opened the campaign with a 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford, thanks to a late Joshua Zirkzee winner.

The previous year, City won 3-0 at Turf Moor against Burnley.
