Milan open Zinchenko talks

AC Milan have opened talks with Arsenal over a possible transfer for Ukrainian left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The 28-year old was signed from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 for ₤32 million, and initially had a big effect on how the Gunners played, with his ability to invert into midfield, the position he plays for the national side.

However, the defensive side of his game was also his weakest area, and he has since been eclipsed by last summer’s signing Riccardo Califiori and the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly.

And that saw him reduced sometimes to fourth in the left-back pecking order last season, with Kieran Tierney also preferred ahead of him.

Borussia Dortmund have also previously expressed an interest in signing him, but it is Milan who have now made the first move. Milan and Arsenal enjoy good relations and there is hope on both sides that a deal can be struck for a player who has always given his best in a Gunners’ shirt.
