Manchester United have been given a free path to finally sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer following reports that Tottenham had cooled their interest.

United are pursuing a move for the 25-year-old after already landing Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian's £62.5million release clause at Wolves was triggered by United to make him the first signing of the summer.

Mbeumo is understood to have been identified as a priority for Ruben Amorim to bolster the Portuguese's attack. The Brentford star scored an impressive 20 goals in the Premier League last term.

However, Thomas Frank's move to Tottenham has sparked some concern over the deal. Mbeumo is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford although United have already failed with an opening bid worth £45million plus £10m in add-ons.

Now, it seems that United have a vital green light to get the deal over the line. Journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that they have cooled their interest in Mbeumo and are unlikely to pursue a deal due to his preference to move to United.

Galetti has also reported that agreeing personal terms with Mbeumo isn't an issue for United. The details with Brentford remain the final stumbling block, and the journalist has claimed that a fee is close to narrowing and being finalised.

Reports have suggested that Brentford want £60m for Mbeumo, and it now seems that United are the only real horse in the race to sign him. After the Cameroon international puts pen to paper, focus will turn to selling players.

On the back of his successful loan spell, Antony continues to be tipped for a return to Real Betis. Marcus Rashford's future remains unclear, and recent reports have suggested that United will accept just £20m for Jadon Sancho.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that United are prioritising a permanent move for the winger before considering another loan. Napoli are said to be interested, but his salary could prove to be an issue.
