At the UEFA U19 European Championship, England U19s found themselves 5-1 down to Germany. That looked like very tough situation to be in. Before half-time had the game all but under wraps.
In troubling times, 19-year-old Man United youngster Ethan Wheatley took a big step forward. After little hope and low spirits simply after half-time in the 52nd minute he scored. He brought the team back-to-life and back within one goal.
Wheatley didn’t just score to take fluid down the score line, he built the fire. His hunger, energy, and sharp finishing gave the Young Lions a fighting chance. They got the momentum quickly shifted in their favour.
Four Goals in 11 Minutes Stun Germany Fans
Following Wheatley’s effort, England roared to life. In the next 12 minutes, the turnaround happened as Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny, Zach Abbott, and Jesse Shaun Derry all found the scoresheet. All three goals leveled the scoreline at 5-5 by the 64th minute. The whole feat happened in merely 11 minutes. The fans couldn’t believe their eyes when it all happened.
