We now know when the 2025/26 North London derbies between Arsenal and Tottenham will take place.
The planning for the new season is already well underway, and we now have the fixtures for the 2025/26 Premier League season, turning the excitement for the new campaign up a notch. Teams have not yet begun their pre-season campaigns, but managers up and down the top tier will already be working to improve their squads ahead of the new season.
Arsenal and Tottenham are no different, with the Gunners expected to spend significantly this summer in a bid to finally end their title drought. The pressure will be on for Mikel Arteta to deliver silverware this season after a trophyless campaign of last, but he will be backed significantly in the market in a bid to help him achieve his objectives.
As for Tottenham, there has been a change in the dugout, with Thomas Frank stepping into the role after Ange Postecoglou was sacked on the back of the club’s Europa League success. Frank will lead Spurs into what they hope will be a much better league campaign, while they will also have to balance that with Champions League football.
Spurs are also going to have to spend on their squad if they want to properly compete in both competitions, and Frank will be expected to compete for Champions League qualification through the Premier League.
When are the 2025/26 North London derbies?
One of the first fixtures Arsenal and Tottenham fans circle on fixture release day is the North London derby, and while the dates are subject to change, we now know what weekends they will be played on, at least.
The first North London derby of the 2025/26 Premier League season will be played at the Emirates Stadium, with the current date set for November 22, 2025. The second, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, is currently scheduled for February 21, 2026.
What Mikel Arteta has said about next season
Speaking about Arsenal’s next campaign, Arteta said in May: "Everything that is planned for preseason and the first few weeks of the season has already been done two or three months ago, so we are now really good. And the moment I start to think about that, I feel goosebumps and excitement, and this is a really good sign always.
“We're going to have plenty of time to think, to analyse what happens in the season, to learn from it for sure, to take all the incredible positive things that the team has done regarding the circumstances and think, okay, how can we now go into that little percentage that is missing to get where we want."
What has been said at Tottenham
It has already been a big season for Tottenham given the managerial change, and speaking about the decision, Daniel Levy said: “I don't regret appointing Ange, I'm very grateful to Ange. In his first season we finished fifth and in his second we were over the moon to win a trophy," Levy told the club's media team.
"But we need to compete in all competitions, and we felt that we needed a change. Emotionally it was difficult but we feel that we've made the right decision for the club."
CEO Vinai Venkatesham added on the Frank selection: “We ran a really, really thorough process at speed. We defined 10 characteristics that we think are important to be a successful manager at Tottenham Hotspur. We analysed in real detail through our technical staff led by [technical director] Johan (Lange), more than 30 candidates.
“We had a shortlist, we spent a lot of time with the shortlist, and Thomas was absolutely the number one candidate. I could not be more excited to have him join the club. I agree with everything that Daniel said around his characteristics. Personally, one of the things I’m really excited about is he’s an outstanding developer of young players. I really look forward to seeing what he can do with the squad that we have here.”
