Arsenal predicted XI for Premier League opener vs Man United, Benjamin Sesko and £51m star make debuts

Arsenal will travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening day of the Premier League next season.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side came up short in their pursuit of the Premier League title last term, and they actually ended up providing a guard of honour for Liverpool at Anfield.

And it goes without saying that Arteta will be determined to finally achieve domestic glory next season.

Of course, that is why Arsenal are in ‘pole position’ to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer, one of a few world-class talents the Gunners will hope to sign.

And in addition to Benjamin Sesko, the likes of Martin Zubimendi could now be set for a debut at Old Trafford in August.

Arsenal have agreed to sign Zubimendi for around £51m, a midfielder who will now have a point to prove in England.

Of course, Man United could also have one of two debutants themselves against Arsenal in two months’ time.

Man United have signed Matheus Cunha and they’re also in negotiations to pick up Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

And whilst Arsenal did want to sign Mbeumo themselves, they might quickly move on to the likes of Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

Arsenal are waiting to bid for Rodrygo right now, hoping that his start to life under new Xabi Alonso isn’t too harmonious.

And if the Gunners are able to bring the Real Madrid star to the Emirates, he might be one of two new signings to start against United from the off.

Looking at that team, one or two Arsenal fans might be asking, ‘where is Sesko?’, and rightly so.

But Arsenal still love Kai Havertz, and he seems likely to start in GW1 next season regardless of who comes in; but rest assured, Sesko will definitely play a part if he’s an Arsenal player by then.

Arsenal’s head to head record against Man United

Since Ruben Amorim was appointed as United boss last season, the Red Devils have faced Arsenal three times.

Arteta got the better of Amorim on their first meeting in the Premier League, a 2-0 win for Arsenal at the Emirates courtesy of goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba at corners.

However, the Gunners have failed to beat United in two matches since, even if Amorim’s side struggled for a lot of last season.

United famously knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup in a penalty shootout last season, a result which arguably marked the start of their season falling apart somewhat.

And whilst Arsenal will be excited for a fresh start in August, so will United, and Amorim’s side might look stronger than ever.
