Liverpool may not be finished with their summer transfer business just yet — but it comes with a twist.
The Reds remain interested in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, but any move depends on one key condition: a current forward must leave.
Gordon was on Liverpool’s radar last summer. Talks between the two clubs even reached a stage where players like Joe Gomez were floated in a potential swap.
But just when it looked like a deal might go through, Newcastle pulled the plug. They found other ways to meet financial rules, selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh instead.
Despite the failed transfer, Liverpool never fully closed the book on Gordon. As revealed by DaveOCKOP, the club has kept communication open with the winger’s representatives.
And now, with the transfer window wide open, the door could reopen — if players like Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, or Darwin Nunez pack their bags.

Anthony Gordon to Liverpool: Still possible?
Manager Arne Slot is believed to be open to a shuffle in the attack. While Florian Wirtz is expected to join soon in a record deal, Liverpool could still add another wide man — but only if someone from the current group makes way.
Gordon, a boyhood Liverpool fan and good friends with Reds midfielder Curtis Jones, has made no secret of his feelings.
During Euro 2024, reports said he spoke about a move to Anfield with real excitement. Some even claimed it affected his focus going into the new season.
But Newcastle are not keen to lose him. The 24-year-old signed a new contract until 2029, which gives the Magpies control in any talks. Arsenal are also said to be interested, just to spice things up.
Still, don’t be surprised if this saga gets a second half — especially if one or two of Liverpool’s attackers are shown the exit door.
