Raptors trade targets: New name emerges amid Kevin Durant pursuit

The Toronto Raptors are reportedly interested in trading for Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk and Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, according to Kris Pursiainen of ClutchPoints.

While Toronto's interest in Durant has been known for some time, Malik Monk has now emerged as a new target for the Raptors.

Monk is set to earn $18.8 million next season, while Durant is in the final year of his contract, making $54.7 million.

"If a trade with the Phoenix Suns for Kevin Durant doesn't end up happening, league sources tell ClutchPoints they have other targets in mind. The Raptors have demonstrated interest in acquiring Kings guard Malik Monk in a potential trade, with that interest dating back at least to February's trade deadline," Pursiainen reported.

Phoenix is expected to make a KD trade in the coming weeks, with many anticipating it to happen before the 2025 NBA Draft.

"The Durant trade saga playing out will allow other pieces of the NBA offseason to fall into place," Pursiainen added. "If Sacramento decides that trading Monk could potentially serve them best long term, they'll have at least one suitor for him in Toronto."

In the 2024-25 season, Monk played 65 games for the Kings, averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.
