This move sparked questions about whether the team is starting a rebuild.
After the trade, some speculated that Memphis might trade their biggest star, Ja Morant.
However, Morant quickly shut down those rumors on X, confirming he will be back with the Grizzlies next season. He also took a jab at the media for focusing on trade rumors instead of the ongoing 2025 NBA Finals.
Earlier, ESPN's Tim Bontemps reported Memphis has no intention of trading Morant or Jaren Jackson Jr. following the Bane deal.
"The Grizzlies are not looking to deal either of their two remaining franchise cornerstones," Bontemps noted.
ESPN insider also explained that the main purpose of the Bane trade was to free up salary cap space to extend Jackson's contract.
Despite battling injuries and playing only 50 games this past season, Ja Morant still averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
