Manchester United fans are fearing Ruben Amorim's days at Old Trafford might be numbered after the Premier League fixtures were released.

The Red Devils face a nightmare start with an opening day clash against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal, who last year finished second compared to United's dismal 15th place. And it doesn't get any easier once they navigate the opening day. Matches against Fulham away and Burnley at home follow - perhaps not too daunting, although Burnley had a miserly defensive record in the Championship.

But then there's the prospect of a Manchester derby when they travel to the Etihad to face City in their fourth encounter of the campaign - as Pep Guardiola's rejuvenated City side look to have Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reinders and Rayan Ait Nouri feeding goal machine Erling Haaland with plenty of ammunition.

And if Amorim and co is to survive that trip, their next challenge is a match against Chelsea at home, who ended the 2024/25 campaign in fourth and have just pipped United to the signature of forward Liam Delap.

The fixtures have left United fans fearing for the future of their boss - who only took the job back in November and is already under pressure after the club's worst season in half a century and Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.

"The Prem giving us those fixtures so they can run the United turmoil/Amorim sacked storyline five games in," one fan sighed. While a second posted: "The fraud Ruben Amorim will be sacked in September!"

"They want to get our Amorim sacked in the first 2 months with these fixtures," a third shared. As a fourth posted: "Seeing United fans on the timelines looking at the fixture list and being happy cause they’re difficult and might get Amorim sacked instead of hoping we do well in them..."

And another added: "Lol just seen our opening fixtures. Amorim is getting sacked before the kids go back to school!"

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more.

Rio Ferdinand believes that Amorim has until Christmas to impress at United before the board assess his future. Speaking to The Mirror, Ferdinand said: "I think the recruitment, he needs that time.

"He's had one player, [Patrick] Dorgu, that he's been able to recruit. So, it looks like [Matheus] Cunha’s come, and I think there's hopefully going to be one or two more in this window.

"Then you can start judging him a little bit more. I don't think in his wildest dreams he thought he'd have finished 15th. None of us fans would have thought that either.

"So, that's been a huge disappointment in that sense. But I don't think you can fully judge everything he's done yet when he hasn't had a chance to bring in players.

"We're judging him based on someone else's players. And I think, yeah, get to Christmas and let's see how we're looking."
