Arsenal assistant manager Carlos Cuesta is set to leave to join Parma, and Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on replacing him, confirming in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter that in the next few days, they will decide what to do.
The Gunners will be preparing to improve on the 2024/2025 season after they missed out on the Premier League title to Liverpool. It's been a slow start to the summer transfer window with Arsenal yet to make a new signing, and there's no doubt they'll need reinforcements if they want to beat the Merseyside club to first place.
Arsenal ended the campaign without a trophy, so it has to go down as a disappointing season. Mikel Arteta's side will now be getting ready for pre-season in a few weeks time, but the Spanish manager will now be without his right-hand man.
Fabrizio Romano: Carlos Cuesta Replacement at Arsenal
Cuesta is set to join Parma
Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta
Romano recently confirmed that Cuesta is set to be appointed as manager of Italian side Parma. The 29-year-old was Arteta's assistant manager at the Emirates Stadium, but he's now pursuing a move to become a manager.
Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed that it's too early to discover who is going to replace Cuesta at Arsenal, and in the next few days they will decide what to do...
"It’s a fresh story, so in the next days they will decide what to do. Cuesta won’t stay; he goes to Parma."
It's a bit of a blow for Arsenal as they now have to focus heavily on bringing in a new assistant manager ahead of pre-season. Cuesta worked closely with Arteta and will have had a major impact over the years, but he's understandably looking to test himself as a manager.
Cuesta is clearly looking to follow a similar path to Arteta, who left Pep Guardiola and Manchester City to join Arsenal as their manager. The 29-year-old is highly rated in football, and the search will now begin for Arsenal to find someone to help lead the Gunners alongside Arteta for the 2025/2026 season and beyond.
