Arsenal reach 'agreement' in Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko transfer chase

Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Benjamin Sesko, moving a step closer to securing the RB Leipzig star as they hunt for a new striker.

The Gunners are set to sign a new No. 9 this summer in their quest to reclaim the Premier League title and have earmarked 22 year old Sesko as one of their prime attacking targets.

Despite expectations that Sesko will depart Leipzig this summer, Arsenal have also been eyeing other players ahead of the transfer window.

Viktor Gyokeres, 27, from Sporting Lisbon is another player on Arsenal's radar, but negotiations over a potential deal are currently 'on ice'.

Coventry City have a vested interest in Gyokeres' next step having sold him to the Portuguese outfit after a stellar Sky Blues career that brought 40 goals in 97 games.

German publication Sport Bild has now reported that Arsenal and Sesko have 'reached an agreement', bringing the deal a step closer, reports the Mirror.

While Arsenal and Sesko appear to have reached an understanding, there is yet to be an agreement between the club and Leipzig.

However, it's suggested that the Gunners are prepared to make an offer that will meet Leipzig's expectations as they continue discussions over a deal - with Leipzig ready to sell after failing to secure a Champions League spot.

But RBL won't let him go cheaply. They're demanding a hefty sum, exceeding £60million.

Mirror Football confirmed last week that Arsenal were pursuing deals for both Sesko and Gyokeres to keep their options open, while Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins - who was the subject of a rejected enquiry in January - remains on the club's list.

While Gyokeres' preferred destination this summer is Arsenal, Sesko remains a long-term target, having been heavily linked with a move last summer before committing to a new contract in Germany.

Gyokeres is expected to make a move this summer, although interested parties may need to pay a higher price than initially anticipated. It was reported that the Swedish player and Sporting Lisbon had a gentleman's agreement to sell him for less than his release clause.

However, the Portuguese champions have denied these claims, with their president, Frederico Varandas, accusing Gyokeres' agent of "playing games" over the striker's asking price.
