‘World-class’ Liverpool star tells agent he wants to leave for Champions League club -…

Liverpool star Andy Robertson has told his agents that he wants to leave the club and join Atletico Madrid, according to journalist Sebastien Vidal.

The Scotland international was a key member of Arne Slot's squad in the 2024/25 season as the Reds claimed their second Premier League title in five years, finishing ten points ahead of their nearest rivals Arsenal in the process.

But Robertson's future may lie away from Anfield now amid interest from the Spanish capital, with a move to the Wanda Metropolitano potentially on the cards.

Atletico Madrid have made him their priority

Fabrizio Romano revealed in recent days that La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid have made a move for Robertson a priority this summer as they look to strengthen their squad.

The Merseyside club are set to complete the signing of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez in the coming weeks and that means that the 31-year-old is set to find his place as first-choice in the squad under threat.

With the idea of a new era at Anfield set to begin, Robertson is eyeing a new challenge abroad and according to Vidal he has told his agents that he wants to leave to join Diego Simeone's side.

It's unclear if Liverpool would be willing to let such an experienced player leave the club, but Robertson has made it clear that he doesn't want to stay in the Premier League with any club other than the Reds - but he would like to move on for a new challenge.

Robertson, who currently earns £160,000-a-week at Anfield and has been described as 'world-class', made 33 appearances in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign but only registered one assist as Slot's style changed what he was asking him to do.

Whether he stays or leaves, the Scot will remain a Liverpool legend, but it could well be the end of a chapter.
