Chelsea Are Plotting Another“Sancho Type”Raid On Man United For£70M Rated Forward

Chelsea have been “discussing” whether to table a “loan to buy” offer for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to reports.

Writing on his Substack, Blues insider Simon Phillips said that the Argentinian international remains a player of interest for the London club.

If they don’t manage to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jamie Gittens, it is possible they will approach United about Garnacho.

The 20-year-old has been made available for transfer, with it being suggested that the Red Devils will let him leave for around £70m.

You can’t see Man United accepting such a proposal

Phillips describes the move as another “Sancho-type deal” but, after being burned by the Blues once, it seems highly unlikely that Ruben Amorim’s side would agree to a similar arrangement that would allow Garnacho to return to Old Trafford in the future.

If Chelsea do want to secure the services of Garnacho, it would have to be a permanent move or, at the very least, a loan with an obligation to buy which has no escape clause.

Are other teams interested in Garnacho?

Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly looking to revive a move for the forward, having had an approach knocked back in January.

However, the Italian side are said to be only willing to pay around £45m for Garnacho, which is substantially below his asking price.

There are also suggestions that the player would prefer to stay in England. Arsenal have been mentioned as another potential suitor but they are said to be more interested in signing Real Madrid’s Rodrygo or even Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

Based on the latest developments, it doesn’t look like Garnacho’s situation will be resolved any time soon.
