Manchester United are facing a £10million blow after Marriott International has ended its sponsorship with the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League side agreed a multi-year partnership with Marriott International – the world’s largest hotel company – in 2019.

SportBusiness reported on 12 June the American firm has now decided not to extend the sponsorship deal after it expired at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Marriott International announced a radical cost-saving programme last November, with the company targeting between $80-90million (£59-67million) in annual cost savings.

However, it recently agreed a new deal with the FA and also extended its sponsorship deal with the Mercedes F1 team.

Sources have told Football Insider Man United’s sponsorship deal with Marriott International was likely worth between £8-10milion a year.

Man United deducted £10m after crushing blow

Marriott International ending its deal isn’t the only sponsorship issue at Old Trafford.

United are set to be deducted £10million by Adidas after failing to qualify for the Champions League in 2024-25.

Ruben Amorim’s side finished 15th in the Premier League table, while they lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham.

Elsewhere, the Manchester giants’ training kit sponsorship deal with blockchain company Tezos, which is worth in excess of £20million a year, will also end this month.

However, the financial picture isn’t all bad at Old Trafford after the club released their third-quarter results up until the end of March earlier this month.

United tightened their projected revenue guidance for 2024-25 to £660-670million, while their wages were down by £20million compared to the same point in 2024.

The 20-time English champions posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million in 2023-24, with their wage bill standing at £365million.

Man United to accelerate Emiliano Martinez deal

In terms of on-field matters, Amorim is looking to strengthen his squad this summer following their disappointing campaign.

Former Old Trafford chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider United are set to accelerate their interest in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

The Argentina international is likely to leave Aston Villa this summer after spending the past five years at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, United will accept offers for Andre Onana after the goalkeeper has endured a difficult time between the sticks at Old Trafford.
