Florian Wirtz's parents set to receive huge sum as Liverpool transfer fee broken down

Florian Wirtz’s parents are set to receive a huge payout as part of their son’s transfer to Liverpool this summer.

Wirtz is expected to complete his move to Anfield this week, with a medical having been scheduled for Friday after a deal was agreed with Bayer Leverkusen. Ahead of arriving on Merseyside, the 22-year-old has been getting reacquainted with former teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who has already secured his switch to Liverpool.

The German international’s transfer is quite the coup for the Reds, with the Premier League’s record fee potentially being broken should all add-ons be met during Wirtz’s time at Anfield.

Liverpool is set to pay a guaranteed $136 million to Leverkusen, with a further $22 million available in add-ons, bringing the total fee to a potential $158M.

As part of his move, Wirtz’s mother and father are set to receive a commission, according to Sport Bild. The player’s parents act as his representatives, and have been negotiating the deal on his behalf, meaning they will be due a windfall.

The report also goes into how much Wirtz is expected to earn during his time at Anfield, as well as how the potential add-ons in the deal will be split.

Wirtz is said to be expected to earn around $11.5M over the course of his contract with the Reds, while Bild suggests the Reds will pay Leverkusen more than Liverpool.com understands the fee to be.

It’s claimed that around $144M is guaranteed, with $28.8M in potential add-ons. Those bonuses are split between $17.3M in “easy” goals, and $11.5M in harder-to-achieve payments.

Those harder bonuses include Wirtz winning the Champions League with Liverpool, and the German international playing a significant role in the triumph, something which former Reds midfielder Dietmar Hamann expects he will have no problem with.

“I don’t think Florian Wirtz will be fazed because there have been rumours over his future for the last 12 months and it didn’t impact his performances once,” Hamann told Wette.de.

“He is a fantastic player and all that uncertainty is gone now, it probably wasn’t easy for a while but he will love it at Liverpool.

“He doesn’t shirk a challenge and doesn’t mind getting physical. That’s why I think he is suited to the English game. In the past we have seen technical players struggle because of the physical side, but I don’t see that danger here.

“He is a brilliant footballer and is lethal going forwards, he will be the best player in the team and he could be the catalyst for Liverpool to dominate the Premier League for years to come.

“The fans will love him and these are exciting times, I can’t wait to see him wear the red shirt.”
