Man City Are‘Planning To Make A Formal Move’For Keeper Described As“Fantastic”By His Manager After Arsenal Display

Man City have made Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma their top target to replace Ederson, according to reports.

The Italian international has a year left on his contract at the European champions and TEAMtalk claim that Pep Guardiola’s side are “planning to make a formal move” for the shot-stopper as and when Ederson’s future is resolved.

Donnarumma has recently spoken out to say that his preference is to remain at PSG but negotiations over a new deal are not going to plan.

TEAMtalk report that the 26-year-old has been offered a lower salary, with additional bonuses based on performances and appearances.

That proposal has not been received well by Donnarumma, who is currently earning just over £200,000 a week.

Donnarumma would be a great addition for Man City

Speaking after the 2-1 win over Arsenal in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, PSG head coach Luis Enrique was fulsome in his praise for his keeper:

“Donnarumma was fantastic, incredible. Just like in the first leg. He was fantastic. Our team is built to attack and defend far from goal, but when you have to defend, it’s important to have a keeper like him. Especially from set-pieces, he was fantastic.”

The PSG’s no.1’s form last campaign was integral in the French side winning a historic treble.

What is the situation with Ederson?

The Brazilian was included in the squad for the Club World Cup, unlike Jack Grealish. He is expected to start the first game against Wydad AC on Wednesday night.

However, there are reports that Ederson’s future may be decided directly after the conclusion of the tournament. A move to Saudi Arabia seems to be the likeliest possibility.

He agreed personal terms ahead of a transfer to the Middle East last year, but teams were unable to agree a fee with City.
