Ruben Amorim might not be a fan of Jadon Sancho, however, one club has put the Man Utd winger top of their shopping list.

Managers like Ruben Amorim who inherit squads that are nowhere near what they need must dread seeing the transfer window close and still being stuck with players who they have deemed surplus to requirements.

It’s not a problem unique to Manchester United, however, it does feel like there needs to be more players depart Old Trafford than arrive, if a corner is to be turned next season.

There are several players who should be sold, but it is the big earners who Amorim will be most keen to get rid of and the Red Devils’ boss has some good news in terms of one wantaway forward.

Man Utd’s Jadon Sancho is top of Napoli’s shopping list

It is already shaping up to be a busy summer and Napoli could do United a favour by taking Jadon Sancho off their hands with an Italian transfer journalist telling Manchester World just how highly Antonio Conte rates the England international.

Luca Bendoni, who works for Sky Sports as a transfer journalist alongside Gianluca Di Marzio (Fabrizio Romano’s mentor), has told us that “Conte wants Sancho as No.1” to replace the £59m departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left-hand side of the Serie A winners’ attack.

On paper, it seems like a strange move given Sancho’s lack of productivity and consistency since leaving Borussia Dortmund, however, look what the Italian boss has done with Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Romelu Lukaku.

Why do Napoli want to sign Sancho?

“I am quite surprised with Jadon, because I knew Jadon already [from seeing him at his previous clubs] and I know what I expected from him, but in terms of being consistent, he’s doing very well.

“Apart from a short part of the season when he had some problems, when he was out ill, then for the rest he has been very good. I expected him to do well, but for all the players doing well for a long period is not easy, and he has been doing well for a long period already. He’s doing well, now he just needs to continue going in that way.”

Sancho’s numbers at Borussia Dortmund were incredible, 120 goal contributions in just under 160 appearances. There is a reason why he was so highly rated and why United paid the best part of £75m for his services.

For one reason or another, things just haven’t worked out at Old Trafford and there isn’t a future for the 25-year old under Amorim anymore. If Bendoni is right, he could well be linking up with a former teammate in Italy, hoping that Conte has a similar affect on his career.
