What Ruben Amorim must‘reflect’on amid Man Utd prediction for 2025/26 Premier League season,‘best interest…’

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been urged to “think” about one key thing going into the 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

That is according to Mike Phelan, who has offered his two cents on Ruben Amorim and Manchester United ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Amorim arrived at Old Trafford during the 2024-25 Premier League season after former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October.

Erik ten Hag oversaw a disastrous start to the Premier League campaign and the Dutchman’s Old Trafford exit paved the way for the arrival of Amorim from Sporting CP.

Amorim, who became United manager last November, struggled to turn the tide back in the Red Devils’ favour in their lacklustre Premier League campaign.

United only managed to finish 15th in the Premier League table and the Red Devils will be without European football for the 2025-26 season at Old Trafford.

Mike Phelan sends warning to Ruben Amorim about Man Utd’s 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford

Manchester United signed off their 2024-25 Premier League season in May before the Red Devils embarked on a post-season tour of Asia for two friendly matches.

Ruben Amorim is expected to reinforce his United first-team squad this summer, including a clearout of players ahead of the new campaign at Old Trafford.

Ex-United assistant manager Mike Phelan has now insisted that Amorim might need to show some “flexibility” with his tactical system for the Red Devils next season.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s former right-hand man added in his prediction that Amorim will need to “hit the ground running” after a disappointing 2024-25 season at the club.

“I think he will have to reflect and just think about flexibility a little bit, because you can go down one path, but if it doesn’t work, it’s not going to be in the best interest for him,” he told The Straits Times.

“I think you have to know what you want and how you want it, but you have to produce it and on the back of a poor end to the season, he’s got to hit the ground running.”

Amorim’s men will begin their Premier League season at Old Trafford, with United facing rivals Arsenal on 17th August at 4:30pm UK time.

The Red Devils will then meet Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League before hosting Burnley at Old Trafford for their final league match in August.

Following United’s first three Premier League matches for the 2025-26 campaign, the Red Devils will face crosstown rivals Manchester City at the Etihad in September.
