Henry Ruggs was a guest speaker at a Hope for Prisoners event Tuesday and was asked if he would like to return to the football field.
Ruggs is a former Alabama football and Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver. He is currently incarcerated in Las Vegas for a fatal car crash. The accident took the life of 23-year-old Tina Tintor. Ruggs issued an apology to the Tintor family during the event.

This was Ruggs’ first public appearance since being incarcerated. He was asked if he would return to the NFL if given the chance during the event.
“Yes, I would love to,” Ruggs said, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I’m in this newfound spiritual space, and I’m confident in who I am and what I can do, so, when the time comes, I’m sure I’ll be ready.”
The former Alabama wide receiver was also asked if he would consider re-joining the Raiders.
“Why would I not?” Ruggs said. “I don’t feel like I ended on the terms that are meaningful to me and my core values. I would love to play again, and what better place to do it than where I started? Not to mention, I was the first-ever pick in Las Vegas.”
The Raiders selected Ruggs as the No. 12 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
