LaMelo Ball has always stood out both on and off the court and his latest offseason move has fans talking.
After completing his fifth NBA season, Ball debuted a full-body tattoo expansion this week. The former Charlotte Hornets All-Star is known for his style and now sports two full arm sleeves that connect seamlessly to his chest piece. His back, already famous for the “Rare One” tattoo, is fully inked with symbols, including a UFO, an alien head.
The latest additions include a striking red-inked “God Soldier” tattoo on his chest, as well as neck designs that had social media buzzing when he revealed it.
Tattoo artist Herchell L. Carrasco shared photos of Ball’s new look online with the caption “Hardest Tattoos in the NBA?” Ball underwent two intense sessions with his team of artists. According to Complex, Ball’s “Rare One” back tattoo alone required six artists to complete last year.
Ball's new ink was heavily criticized by fans on social media.
"How many “chosen ones” can there be?," SirRobertBuford asked.
"He’s face tats away from the island boys," Another user wrote.
"Who's gonna tell him that 'Chosen One' isn't centered," one user asked.
"Dudes more focused on getting tatted up, than improving his game," Ron commented.
"Got more tats than games played," HeatJon added.
"Dude built like a 14 y/o Fortnite pro," Geo said.
Ball, who entered the league in 2020 with considerable hype after growing up in the spotlight alongside brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo Ball, has continued to build his brand both on the hardwood and in the entertainment world.
On the court, Ball averaged 25.2 points, 7.4 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 40.5% from the field and 33.9% from three-point range in 47 games during the 2023–24 season. His campaign was cut short by a season-ending injury in March.
Even in the offseason, Ball remains a rare presence and now one of the most heavily tattooed stars in the NBA.
