Everton have been handed a potential boost in any attempt to sign Geny Catamo from Sporting CP. The complicated situation surrounding the ownership of the player is seemingly close to being sorted out.
According to Record (h/t Sport Witness), the interest of the Blues and a number of Premier League clubs have prompted the Lisbon outfit to fully resolve Catamo's situation. Sporting currently own 25 per cent of the rights to the player, with the remainder belonging to Amora.
Speaking about the wing-back, Amora's president Jose Maria Gallego Moyano said there is still work to do, although things were moving in the right direction towards a resolution.

"We are much closer now than we were a year ago, but I believe it will still take a few more days; it is also possible that everything will only be concluded close to the end of the market," he said.
"We know that it is normal at this stage, but this kind of news always ends up affecting negotiations and could even delay the agreement with Sporting for a few more weeks.

"It is something that is not in the interests of Amora or Sporting, especially because, at this moment, their biggest concern is (Viktor) Gyokeres."
According to Record, the Blues will face competition from Fulham, Aston Villa, Roma and Udinese for Catamo.

Last season the 24-year-old made 30 top-flight appearances for Sporting - 20 of which were starts - notching five goals and two assists.
Catamo is a versatile player who operated on both flanks as both a wing-back and a winger. He also made some appearances in central-midfield.
If he was to sign, then Catamo would likely miss a portion of the season due to the Africa Cup of Nations in December and January as he is a regular for Mozambique. Iliman Ndiaye could miss as many as six games due to the competition, as could his Senegal team-mate Idrissa Gueye who is yet to commit his future to Everton.
