Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens has chosen Stamford Bridge as his preferred destination this summer, despite strong interest from fellow Premier League side Arsenal.

Chelsea have made Gittens their top target and will now look to finalise a deal for the 20-year-old, after having a £40 million bid rejected earlier this week. Dortmund value the winger at €60 million (£51.3m) and the two clubs will reconvene for another round of negotiations.

Blues’ boss Enzo Maresca has spoken at length about his need for another winger in recent weeks. Loanee Jadon Sancho has returned to parent club Manchester United after failing to impress, leaving Chelsea short of options down the flanks.

Maresca said: “We have Noni, Pedro and Ty only as the proper wingers so something for sure is going to happen. When the transfer window is open, for sure, we can do something.”

Gittens enjoyed a fruitful 2024/25 campaign at the Signal Iduna Park, netting eight league goals in 32 appearances. He also managed to establish himself as a regular in England’s U21 side.

A seven-year contract has already been agreed between Gittens and Chelsea, and for now the youngster is refusing to consider other clubs as he has his eyes set on Stamford Bridge.
