Derby County sent Eiran Cashin transfer message after Brighton update

Eiran Cashin

Eiran Cashin looks set to leave Brighton on loan this summer.

Former Derby County defender Eiran Cashin could be set to leave Brighton on loan this summer to help aid his development.

The centre-back has made just two appearance for Albion since signing from Derby in January in a £10m deal having found it hard to cement a first-team place.

The arrival of Diego Coppola has also intensified competition for places, although Brighton view Cashin has a long-term project after he signed a contract that runs until 2030.

The Premier League outfit are now reportedly going to send him out on loan, with a number of clubs in England and Germany set to express an interest.

However, a move to the Championship has not been ruled out, and that could put Cashin on a collision course with the Rams next season.

We asked readers whether Derby should consider taking Cashin back given they are looking to boost their defensive options.

Here's what they had to say....

TeleDav2: "The Bundesliga is a good option for young players that can't get regular Premier League games. Going back into the Championship is not going to progress their game."

Cleddens: "It is a "win-win" situation for Brighton, giving him such a long contract. If he doesn't break into their first team, his value will still spiral upwards if he has successful loan periods.

"He fits their method of working perfectly. Matt Clarke signed for them from Portsmouth and I don't think ever made their first team. Cashin has fundamental weaknesses such as lack of pace, so he might not make it in the Premier League."

Ram61: "Be nice if we could get him back for next season."

Wewontcomply: "I prefer Clarke and Langas."

Grabbags: "Play regular football or earn the bucks - it is a difficult choice for some. Surprisingly, Mo Salah did not follow the Yellow Buck Road to Saudi Arabia, £500m did not tempt him."

Supertiv: "Personally I would welcome him home but going backwards is not always the best idea."

Would you sign Cashin again?
