Marcus Rashford is reportedly willing to make a key 'sacrifice' in order to secure his ideal move away from Manchester United.

First shunned by Ruben Amorim last December, the 27-year-old did not play for United again before managing to secure a short-term loan to Aston Villa. There he was able to make an impact with four goals and six assists in 17 matches, thus reinforcing the message that perhaps his future lies anywhere besides this new dawn at Old Trafford.

Villa had a £40m option to make their loan permanent but did not act on it, meaning it will fall on United to find a different club to sell to if this summer is going to produce the definitive parting of ways.

Barcelona are interested in Rashford, with the Manchester Evening News reporting in January that United held discussions with a Spanish agency regarding a potential transfer before he moved to Villa.

Sporting director Deco has even told Catalan radio station RAC1 last month: "We like Luis [Diaz], we like [Marcus] Rashford, and we like other players."

It just so turns out as that situation has developed, it is one of those 'other players' that the La Liga side may progress towards signing instead of the United forward. Athletic Bilbao prospect and Spanish international Nico Williams appears to have emerged as their new top target, personally vying for the move.

In a new update from Marca, Rashford is apparently not going to give up on his dream move to Barca whilst there is still a fighting chance.

They say he is eager to become Barca player at the end of this saga and claim he is willing to supplement the fact that his price tag would likely be smaller than Williams' by making 'sacrifices', including those financially.

That appears to a be a hint towards the England attacker slashing his wage demands in order to appear a more attractive option over the Bilbao and Liverpool options.

Rashford, 27, earns £325,000-a-week at United and his salary has so far prevented him from leaving the club having previously outlined his desire for a "new challenge".

As the saga over his future goes on, Rashford has already shown his commitment to being in the best possible shape ahead of the 2025/26 season, even if it is uncertain which club he will be playing for.

He shared his training regime to his Instagram followers, showing that between Monday, June 9 and this coming Sunday, June 22, he will have had only three days off where he has not worked out in some capacity. Nine days were dedicated to gym sessions and on the pitch while two further days will be focused solely in the gym.

Rashford then shared a video of himself completing a rope climb in warm weather, with Marca's report suggesting he has been holidaying in Marbella.
