Chelsea youngster involved in dramatic U19 Euros comeback to keep qualification hopes alive

A number of Chelsea youngsters are currently representing their countries on the international stage at different age levels of the European Championships.

Geovany Quenda has been starring for Portugal U21s despite playing three years above his age range, with Chelsea supporters beginning to get excited about the player that will be joining their first team squad in 12 months’ time.

A number of Cobham stars are currently in action too, as they look to prove to Enzo Maresca that they are ready for more than just cameo appearances for the first team.

One of those is Kiano Dyer, who has been part of the club since 2021 when he made the switch from West Brom.

Chelsea youngster Kiano Dyer features in dramatic England U19 comeback

The midfielder has frequently featured for his country at youth level. Dyer recently starred alongside Tyrique George in a big win for England.

The 18-year-old started for the Three Lions in the U19 group stage game against Germany, and things looked extremely bleak when they found themselves 5-1 down in the second half.

What followed was an outstanding comeback that saw four goals in 11 minutes to bring the game back to 5-5.

With England drawing their first group stage game, they could not afford to lose if they wanted to progress in the competition, and Dyer is set to remain a key player for as long as they remain in the tournament.

Chelsea in danger of losing Dyer

Chelsea have already seen one of their top young prospects leave the club due to not being able to see a pathway to the first team. Rio Ngumoha made the switch to Liverpool last summer.

It has been claimed a number of top sides are looking at Dyer, with him only being given limited opportunities under Maresca.

He did leave the 2024/25 season with a Conference League winners medal after making an appearance in the competition earlier this season, however this was only in the group stages where mass rotation took place.

It will not be long before a decision needs to be made over Dyer’s future, and if he has a part to play in the future of Chelsea.
