Manchester City and Arsenal will be determined to dethrone Liverpool as Premier League champions in the 2025/2026 season.
Pep Guardiola expressed his hunger in training as he was overheard saying: “It’s good to be back, come on, we’ll rest when we die.”
With Manchester City making four signings already, the Sky Blues look ready to pounce upon any of Liverpool’s potential weaknesses and win the league again.
Guardiola is eyeing the Premier League title instead of lowering City’s standards and treating the upcoming campaign like a mere transitional season.
As for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s project could come under question if he fails to win the league after three successive seasons of leading the Gunners to second place — as the Spaniard has also not managed to win any major trophy since 2020.

Manchester City star Rayan Cherki promised to “kill” Manchester United, which is another sign that like Pep Guardiola’s squad do not need to be motivated ahead of the following campaign.

In September, one of City’s toughest tests will emerge against Mikel Arteta’s side at the Emirates Stadium.
While predicting Arsenal’s early-season results in the Premier League on talkSPORT, Gabriel Agbonlahor claimed that they would suffer a home defeat to Manchester City: Arsenal’s first six, Manchester United away first game, I’ve gone for a draw. Leeds away, I’ve gone for a win for Arsenal, Liverpool away loss, Forest at home, win for Arsenal a narrow win. Man City at home, a loss and Newcastle away, I’ve gone for a loss.”
Agbonlahor concluded: “That’s seven points from a possible 18, that wouldn’t be a great start for them.”

Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Gabriel Agbonlahor is proven right and Manchester City get one over Arsenal.
While a victory against the North Londoners in September will not decide the title, it would be a message to the rest of the league that City mean business next season.
Based on Manchester City’s last 10 results against Arsenal, history backs them to come out on top.
