Tino Livramento and England teammates need result against Germany to make sure

News

Tino Livramento is set to be back in action tonight.

England v Germany with a place in the quarter-finals of the Under 21s Euros at stake.

Their final group match, England needing a point to make sure of a place in the last eight.

Tino Livramento was man of the match in the opening group game as the England Under 21s defeated the Czech Republic 3-1.

Then whilst those in attacking positions wasted chance after chance, the United defender once again one of England’s best players in a goalless draw with Slovenia.

Germany have already qualified and it remains to be seen whether they play a weakened side tonight, keeping key players back for their quarter-final match. Slovenia play Czech Republic in the other Group B match tonight, also an 8pm kick-off.

If England beat Germany tonight, they will face Italy in the quarter-finals on Sunday. If England go through as runners-up then they face Spain on Saturday. Defeat for England tonight would obviously leave their progress dependent on what happens in the Slovenia v Czech Republic game.

This is how Group B looks before tonight’s matches, with the group winners and runners-up going through to the last eight.

In Group D, Will Osula and Denmark are already through to the last eight, they will face France on Sunday 22 June in their quarter-final.

The Newcastle United forward in superb form. Coming off the bench to get an assist and score the winner against Ukraine, after Denmark had trailed 2-1.

Then despite Holland dominating, Will Osula was lethal in front of goal. Starting the second group game he scored both of Denmark’s goals as they came back from 1-0 down to get the victory that meant they were through with one group game remaining.

As to just how good that win was, Denmark inflicting a first defeat for the Netherlands in 25 U21 EURO qualifying and final tournament matches, stretching back to when the Netherlands lost their semi-final to Germany in 2021.
