Manchester United are struggling to find suitors for Tyrell Malacia after his return from a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven. The 25-year-old is up for sale, along with numerous senior team players, as Ruben Amorim plans a summer squad overhaul.
Amorim inherited a big squad from former manager Erik ten Hag last season, but they failed to understand his tactics. Many of these players have struggled with consistency and fitness problems long before Amorim arrived at the club last season.
With a limited fixture schedule to deal with next season, Amorim intends to have a lean squad at the club. Malacia was one of the many senior players Amorim immediately dispatched on a loan deal during the January transfer window.
Manchester United have already replaced Tyrell Malacia with Patrick Dorgu amid Malacia’s failure to attract any suitor for a permanent transfer
The 25-year-old made 12 appearances in all competitions for PSV during his loan spell, failing to make any goalscoring contribution. According to The Athletic, United are unlikely to recoup any money they spend on Malacia, struggling to find any suitor.
Ten Hag signed Malacia from Feyenoord during the summer of 2022 for €17 million (£14.5m), becoming another failed signing under the Dutch coach. The 25-year-old’s price valuation is not as big as the valuation of other failed signings, but it highlights the problem.
Malacia suffered a knee injury that sidelined him for 500 days as he missed 70 games over that time period. While the primary objective for United is to back Amorim with a competent squad, reducing wage expenses is also critical.
Furthermore, United needs to balance their account and any potential sale is a welcome addition to the transfer funds. The Red Devils have signed Patrick Dorgu under Amorim during the January transfer window to bolster their left wing-back position.
