'Quick fix'– Man Utd legend's new prediction for Ruben Amorim's 2025/26 season included eye-opening three-word message

Manchester United legend Andy Cole was asked for his verdict on Ruben Amorim’s reign at Old Trafford ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim saw out a turbulent 2024-25 Premier League campaign for the Red Devils after his arrival from Portuguese outfit Sporting CP last November.

The 40-year-old Manchester United manager replaced former Ajax and Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, who was sacked by the Premier League club last October.

Former Sporting CP boss Amorim was only able to lead United to 15th place in the table after the Red Devils’ form fell off a cliff in their Premier League campaign.

The Portuguese coach also fell short of seeing the Red Devils secure European football for the 2025-26 season after United’s Europa League final defeat in May.

Tottenham beat United 1-0 in the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao and Spurs punched their ticket back to the Champions League for next season.

Andy Cole asked about Ruben Amorim after Man Utd’s 2025-26 Premier League opener vs Arsenal was revealed

Manchester United’s fixture list for the 2025-26 Premier League season dropped on Wednesday and the Red Devils face a tricky start to the upcoming campaign.

The Red Devils will be in action on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign and United will face Arsenal at Old Trafford on 17th August.

Andy Cole admitted that Ruben Amorim still has his full backing and is hopeful that things work “out a little bit better” for the United manager next season.

The 53-year-old United legend added that “everything’s a process” and Cole would double down on his remarks amid his support for Amorim at Old Trafford.

“We all deserve time, you know,” Cole told Sky Sports.

“I think as managers, you know, when you go in as a manager, you know, you got to be given time.

“And I know everyone wants a fix. I mean, sorry, a quick fix, but sometimes in football, you know, things like that don’t happen.

“Everything’s a process. It takes time. Fingers crossed this season, you know, it works out a little bit better for him than last season.

“But we’ll have to wait and see. Everything, like I said, everything’s a process.”

Cole has remained optimistic that United can “breed confidence” and secure “some positive results” from their tough opening Premier League matches next season.

“That’s a crazy start,” he said.

“I’m not even going to stand there and say, you know, that’s going to be the barometer of the season because to have a start like that, you know, you got to try and hit the ground running.

“So, it [will] be interesting. Fingers crossed to be able to go out there, get some positive results early, breed confidence and then move on from there.”

United’s first five Premier League fixtures for next season include a trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City and facing Chelsea at Old Trafford in September.
