Manchester City are not surprisingly looking to strengthen their playing squad, and Pep Guardiola has now made a big move to designate a new leader, with Guardiola scrapping the normal players’ vote for the new captain, to elect Bernardo Silva. This will be the first time in nine years that the Spaniard has picked hisown captain, but after the last season, it’s understandable he wants to shake things up.

Reflecting on his decision to change, Guardiola said:“For the first time in my career, I decided my captain.”
