Wolves fans have mixed feelings about the coming 2025/26 season.
There is optimism about the campaign because of the impact Vitor Pereira made after replacing Gary O’Neil.
But there is also some nervousness, because key players such as Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia have all already left, with potentially Nelson Semedo to follow.
Wolves are set to sign Fer Lopez, but Wanderers will need several more new faces to come in this summer.
Wolves’ 2025/26 fixture list dropped today and while it’s a tricky start in terms of the first five games, it is not too bad overall. Although the Christmas and New Year period is a bit tricky.
Fans are expecting new signings to come in. But Pereira will also need those he already knows well to stand up and deliver.
And there’s one player right now who is looking very promising indeed.

Just over one year ago, Wolves landed Rodrigo Gomes from Braga.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
He had been one of the most exciting young players in the Portuguese top-flight in 2023/24 operating as a wing-back on loan at Estoril.
And that prompted Wolves to pay £12.7 million (BBC Sport) to snap him up.
In his first season, Wolves fans only really saw glimpses of Rodrigo, who made 28 appearances.
He scored three goals, and played a variety of positions, including right and left wing-back, and right and left wing.
Gary O’Neil famously didn’t deem Rodrigo a player for the present.
But Vitor Pereira disagreed with O’Neil’s verdict on Rodrigo, and handed him several opportunities before an injury in mid-February halted his momentum.
But all the signs are there that the effervescent Rodrigo will be a top player for Wolves, and the youngster is in a good moment right now, having scored two goals for the Portugal U21s at the Euros.
Rodrigo scored against Poland in their second group stage match, and then last night he was back on target, scoring within minutes of coming on in the late stages against Georgia.
Nelson Semedo exit may open the door for Rodrigo
Many Wolves fans hope Nelson Semedo stays at the club. Semedo is currently still deciding his future and has a four-year contract offer on the table at the moment.

But there is a possibility he won’t sign that contract and move on – and that would potentially hand Rodrigo a chance.
He played as a right wing-back for Estoril, and played the position so well that Wolves splashed nearly £13 million on him.
While there would rightly be clamour for Semedo to be replaced, his exit would potentially see Rodrigo get more minutes for Wolves.

Appearances – 28
Minutes played – 1068
Goals – 3
Assists – 0
And that would be great to see. Because Rodrigo is not only talented, but extremely hardworking and humble, and someone who is very easy to root for.
His attitude has been brilliant from the moment he joined the club, and if he does get a show of faith from Pereira he might just explode in 2025/26, having now gotten a feel for the Premier League.
