European club keen to sell £12M attacker – Leeds United eyeing move this summer

Leeds United managed to score 95 goals in the Championship this season. And the club will definitely need more quality to survive in the Premier League.

A new striker has arrived at Elland Road, the deal was officially announced on Sunday. However, Lukas Nmecha will only join the squad when his current contract expires next month. Graham Smyth also said that Leeds could add another center forward even after signing the German forward.

Out of the 95 goals last season, the highest contributors were wide players. Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto and Manor Solomon had to carry a lot of the goalscoring burden as the only productive striker was Joel Piroe.

Since Solomon has returned to Spurs, and reports indicate that he is keen on remaining in London, Leeds may need another wide player.

The current options at the club include Largie Ramazani, Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto; and now there are reports that another attacker could be added to the fold. Leeds’ major candidate seems to be Anderlecht star Mario Stroeykens. Reports suggest that the Whites are keen on adding the 20-year old.

There have been no official bids, but Belgian outlet HLN report that Anderlecht are in some financial trouble and will need to sell some of their best players. Stroeykens will be available for around £12million, with Leeds and Marseille interested.

Leeds could capitalize on situation

Stroeykens is a very good player. Even though he was a rotation option for most of this season, he had decent output.

Four goals and five assists in 27 games is a decent record. The 21-year old is similar to Gnonto; lightning quick and a terror behind defenders. If Leeds can snap him up on a bargain, it would be a very good deal.
