EXCLUSIVE: Myles Lewis-Skelly agrees new Arsenal contract

Myles Lewis-Skelly has agreed a new long-term Arsenal contract, with an official announcement expected shortly.

The new deal for Lewis-Skelly, who had been about to enter into the final year of his current contract, will come as a huge boost to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Lewis-Skelly was a revelation last season having established himself in the side around the turn of the year and ended the season as Mikel Arteta’s undisputed first choice left-back.

The 18-year-old also forced his way into the England set-up and scored on his debut against Albania in March, becoming the youngster ever player to score on his first senior England appearance.

Lewis-Skelly’s impressive performances last season against Real Madrid in the Champions League saw him catch the eyes of the Spanish giants, who were understood to be keeping tabs on his contract situation in North London.

But Lewis-Skelly’s desire was always to pen fresh terms with his boyhood club, with sporting director Andrea Berta having now been able to get the deal over the line.

Lewis-Skelly’s renewal follows on from the recent announcement that defender Gabriel Magalhaes had also put pen to paper on a new deal.

Talks are continuing over new contracts for Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard.
