Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a lengthy ban from football after the FA charged him for violating their anti-doping rules. The Ukraine international has been suspended from the sport since December 2024 when he tested positive for doping and his future at Stamford Bridge has been up in the air ever since.
Having not featured for Chelsea at all in 2025, he was recently stripped of the number 10 shirt at the club, with it being handed to Cole Palmer instead. This spelt trouble for the forward's future and now it looks as though he might not be returning to the football pitch for quite some time.

While the details of Mudryk's ban have been held under wraps for months, it's now been revealed that he's been charged by the FA for violating their anti-doping rules. The Telegraph's Matt Law broke the news exclusively and shared details of what the charge may mean for Mudryk's future.
According to Law, a positive doping test can lead to a ban from football for up to four years. This means the star wouldn't be able to touch the pitch again until he's 28 years old.
When news of his suspension first surfaced in December, Mudryk hired Morgan Sports Law to work on his case with Chelsea also providing support. They were the same team who worked with Paul Pogba and represented the Frenchman during his appeal after he was handed a four-year ban for a positive doping test. In that instance, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later reduced Pogba's ban to 18 months.
Throughout the situation, Mudryk has continued to maintain his innocence and denies knowingly breaking any rules. It is understood that the star tested negatively during a doping test last summer and he insists that he didn't change anything about his behaviour in the months before he tested positive.
The FA have issued a statement, saying:
"We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time."
Strict confidentiality remains, including through any appeal, which could go all the way to CAS. Mudryk has previously denied knowingly taking any banned substance. Chelsea were approached about the situation, but declined to comment.
