Newcastle United are eyeing a move to sign Liverpool forward Diogo Jota to bolster Eddie Howe's squad, according to Anfield Index.
The Magpies are keen to make the squad stronger after a fantastic 2024/25 season in which they qualified for the Champions League by finishing fifth, while also ending their 70-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup by defeating Liverpool at Wembley.
Several players and positions are being targeted currently, and according to a report, several Liverpool players are being considered, including the Portugal international.

With Callum Wilson looking likely to leave St James' Park this summer, Howe wants to add a new striker to the squad and Jota has emerged as a potential candidate for the role.
The former Wolves man, who has been described as "world-class" by Curtis Jones, had been a regular under Arne Slot at Anfield this summer as he helped the club win the Premier League title, but it's believed the Reds are now open to a sale should they receive an acceptable offer.
Newcastle have money to spend as restrictions due to FFP are no longer in place, and a move for Jota is now being eyed although it is unclear how much he is likely to cost.

The Toon also have a strong interest in Brighton forward Joao Pedro, who has been linked with a £60m move to St James' Park, and the belief is that he is Howe's top target. But the fee could be problematic, and it's possible that Jota could emerge as an alternative to the Brazilian.
Liverpool are still showing a keen interest in striker Alexander Isak, but there is no suggestion that any deal for the two could be linked. Newcastle's interest in Jota is completely independent of Liverpool's interest in Isak, which makes this a deal to keep an eye on.
The Portugal international nine goals for the Reds in 2024/25 playing mainly through the middle, but he is also capable of playing out wide and that versatility could be a big help Howe and Newcastle as they return to the Champions League in 2025/26.
