'Absolutely no way': Pereira warned Wolves attacker target is worth nowhere near £40m+ asking…

Wolves were recently linked with a move for Harvey Elliott, who is likely to be on the move this summer.

The Liverpool attacker struggled for game time in 2024/25, and is about to face an even trickier situation with Florian Wirtz set to arrive at Anfield.

Elliott recently cast doubt over his Liverpool future, suggesting that he did not want to waste any years in his career.

This came after Wolves reportedly showed interest in Elliott.

But Liverpool slapped a price tag of at least £40 million on Elliott, which surely means he’s out of Wolves’ budget.

For pundit Stan Collymore, that is way too much for Wolves to pay, as he offered how much Wanderers officials should be offering.

Wolves want two number 10s this summer.

It looks as though Wolves will be getting their first player for that position in the form of Fer Lopez.

Lopez had his Wolves medical on Wednesday, and should be confirmed as a new signing very soon.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

The Elliott links have cooled over the last couple of weeks, but Wolves feel he would be a good fit for their starting XI.

That said, Wolves won’t go near him at over £40 million, and Stan Collymore reckons Wanderers should only be offering around half that amount.

He told Birmingham World: “No (Wolves shouldn’t pay over £40 million), I think half of that and then you’ve got a player. The issue with Harvey Elliott isn’t the fact that he can play or he can create, it’s his injury problem.

“He misses games, he had a very nasty injury very early on his development at Liverpool. With the likes of Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, he was never going to nail a place in the first team. And now with Wirtz coming in, that fills the central creativity hub as well.

“If Wolves can get him for £20 million plus add-ons, then that’s a good deal for all parties. Absolutely no way is he worth £50 million, or even £40 million. If it was a £30 million all-round deal with a base figure of 15-to-20 with add-ons for performances, I think Wolves get a good deal – I think Liverpool get a good deal.”

Lopez transfer may see Wolves avoid Elliott

Many Wanderers fans will agree with Collymore that Elliott is worth nowhere near £40 million. Indeed, many Wolves fans blasted Liverpool’s valuation of Elliott on social media shortly after the first report of interest.

Liverpool are within their rights to place that valuation, as they don’t particularly want to sell. But it would be a major surprise if any club came forward willing to offer a fee in that ballpark.

Appearances – 147

Goals – 15

Assists – 20

But it may well be that Wolves have no plans to make Elliott their second number 10 signing this summer because of the Fer Lopez move.

Lopez is a young player, and one gets the sense that Wolves probably now need someone a little bit more experienced for the second 10 position.

To press ahead with two relative youngsters may be unwise, and so, it would be no surprise if Wanderers steered clear of Elliott.
