Nico Raskin could potentially join international teammate Youri Tielemans at Aston Villa after a transfer from Rangers.

Unai Emery’s team want the Belgium international from the Gers, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

It isn’t surprising to see Raskin attracting interest away from Ibrox after an impressive season at the Glaswegian outfit.

Tielemans may have a role to play in convincing the Villa manager to sanction a move for the former Standard Liege midfielder as the Light Blues brace for offers.

Tielemans speaks to Emery about Raskin transfer from Rangers

Tielemans may have spoken to Emery about signing Raskin from the Gers this summer, Keith Jackson says.

The Daily Record journalist suspects that the ex-Leicester City star could be getting in the Villa manager’s ear to convince him about the 24-year-old’s qualities after his exploits at Ibrox.

Raskin’s record at the Gers last season.

Jackson wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the Premier League outfit are interested in the Bears’ midfielder.

Speaking on Hotline Live (17 June), the journalist said: “I think if there’s a Villa interest, I can completely understand it. You’ve got Tielemans playing as a regular in the Villa midfield. If he’s getting in Emery’s ear and telling him ‘this boy is a player’.”

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises to cash in on Raskin transfer at Ibrox

Raskin’s exit from Ibrox this summer would make sense as the Gers would arguably get a decent sum for him, helping Kevin Thelwell with funds for the squad rebuild.

The 24-year-old’s current contract at the Light Blues expires in 2027, and this feels like the right time to cash in on him unless the midfielder signs a new deal.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are expected to make sweeping changes at the Glaswegian outfit after their takeover, and fans will expect the US consortium to be more prudent with their business compared to the previous regime.

Rangers will undoubtedly miss Raskin if he leaves, but they can’t expect to keep hold of the Belgian star forever.

If Villa make a decent offer for the 24-year-old in the coming weeks, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Gers accept it.

Connor Barron may have lost his place in the starting lineup last season, but he may have the potential to be the next big superstar at the Light Blues.

Having failed to maximise their sales in recent transfer windows, the Bears need to learn from their mistakes and start building a sustainable recruitment model.

Raskin’s situation in Glasgow is certainly one to watch this summer.
