Liverpool have completed a second departure of the summer following Caoimhin Kelleher made an £18.5m move to Brentford earlier this month.

And while it is not a permanent deal, it involves yet another shot stopper.

Both Liverpool FC and Ajax have confirmed that goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will join the Dutch giants on loan for the 2025/26 season.

An official Ajax statement reads:

“Ajax have reached an agreement with Liverpool and Vitezslav Jaros. The 23-year-old goalkeeper joins on loan from the English club. He will return to Liverpool once the loan period ends.”

The 23-year-old shot stopper successfully completed his medical today, and arrives in the Dutch capital after former Liverpool assistant John Heitinga took the reins this summer as the head coach.

Technical director Alex Kroes said of the deal:

“We’re very pleased to have brought Vitezslav to Amsterdam.”

“Despite his young age, he has already gained valuable experience and played a full part as a back-up goalkeeper with the English champions.”

“His ability to play out from the back is of a very high level, he is athletic, reads space well, and provides calmness to the defence. His arrival definitely gives our squad a boost in quality.”

Liverpool have added that the Czechia international penned a long-term deal at Anfield before embarking on this loan deal.

Vitezslav Jaros arrived at Liverpool from Slavia Prague in August 2017 as a 16-year-old, quickly advancing through the academy and won the 2019 FA Youth Cup with the club.

The ‘keeper first ventured out on loan in early 2021, joining League of Ireland side St Patrick’s Athletic to gain his initial taste of senior football.

During that spell he made his competitive debut in March and went on to star between the posts, earning Player of the Year honors and lifting the FAI Cup before returning to Merseyside.

He has also had spells at Notts County, Stockport County and Austrian side Sturm Graz during his time as a Liverpool player.

At Sturm Graz, he played a key role in a squad that secured both the Bundesliga title and the Austrian Cup by the close of the 2023–24 season.
